We are proud to announce that the City of Greendale has been recognized as a 2024 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation! This designation honors our ongoing efforts to plant, maintain, and grow trees that benefit our community in countless ways.
Trees do more than beautify our neighborhoods—they improve air quality, provide shade, reduce stormwater runoff, and even help lower energy costs. By investing in our urban canopy, we are creating a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future for Greendale.
To earn this recognition, Greendale met all four key Tree City USA standards:
Maintained a dedicated Tree Board
Adopted a community tree ordinance
Invested at least $2 per capita in urban forestry
Hosted an Arbor Day celebration
Linda Cromer, President of Greendale’s Tree Board, shared, “Earning the Tree City USA recognition is a reflection of Greendale’s commitment to preserving and enhancing our urban canopy. Trees are more than just a beautiful part of our landscape—they provide shade, cleaner air, and a healthier environment for our residents. We are honored to be recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation and will continue working to keep Greendale green and thriving.”
Thank you to everyone who plays a role in making Greendale a greener place to live! Let’s continue planting for the future and celebrating the positive impact trees have on our community.
